I had gone through the South Beach diet twice in the past and I always found it a very effective means to lose undesirable belly fat. The problem was I never follow thru the Phase 3 maintenance diet once I reached my desired weight hence I always regained my unwanted pounds back.
I hope to be able to record my progress in this blog so people who would want to undertake a weight-loss regimen on their own could take a tip or two from my own actual experience.
I noticed I have been gaining weight these past few days and I realized I could no longer fit into my denims and slacks. I decided against buying new apparels because I know it won't solve my problem in any way. And so yesterday I made a firm decision to start Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet once again after I recorded my weight at 149 pounds (ugh! I hate admitting it but it is so obvious in my recent photos). I need to get back to my ideal weight of 130 lbs. asap.

This link would show the list of foods allowed and disallowed during the 1st two weeks (Phase 1) which is the most crucial part of the weight-reduction plan. I can personally tell you, based on my past experience, one is guaranteed to lose 8 to 12 lbs (mostly belly fat) after the 1st two weeks, if one follows the diet very strictly.
Phase 1, Day 1 (July 26, 2010)
For breakfast I had coffee with muscovado for sweetener [I didn't have a stock of nutra-sweet] and prepared a two-egg omelet with onions and tomatoes . [I didn't have any other vegetables in my fridge at the time. This is why I had to rush to the supermarket yesterday morning to buy vegies for my SB diet.]
I had some peanuts for my 10 am snack. [Note: It is advised that even if you don't feel hungry you have to take a mid-morning snack as suggested here.]
For lunch I had a plate-full of green salad (romaine lettuce, cucumber, bell pepper) with pesto-vinaigrette seasoning and Century Tuna Spanish style sardines sauteed with lots of onions. I had one hard-boiled egg for my afternoon snack and a cup of coffee. For dinner: pork tenderloin steak and steamed vegetables consisting of sayote, baguio beans, cauliflower and carrots (tho' I avoided eating the carrots since they are not allowed during the phase 1 of the diet) garnished with pepper and unsalted butter.
Phase 1, Day 2 (July 27, 2010)
Again I had a two-egg omelet with crab meat, onion and tomatoes plus a cup of coffee for breakfast today.
I forgot to take anything for my midmorning snack this morning because I didn't realize it was time to take my snack. [Read: I didn't feel hungry but that is a no-no actually. One has to take something even if one does not feel a need to have one.]
My lunchbox to the office consisted of: The left-over pork tenderloin steak of last night and two cups of cooked beansprout with strips of cabbage sauteed and seasoned with oyster sauce. Yummy!
For my afternoon snack: one hard-boiled egg and a cup of coffee. (Tip from my Neuro physician: 2 cups of coffee a day prevents dementia. So there.)
My dinner tonight consisted of chicken breast adobo and steamed vegetables. I had a Ricola Swiss Herb hard candy and I took one piece for dessert. Hard candies are allowed if they are sugar-free but the hard candy I took may not have been one so I may have cheated on that one.
It's been two days. I feel great. No hunger pangs. I hope nothing prevents me or distracts me from achieving my goal....
